The Library was established in the 1960s. The stock of the Library comprises materials for teaching and learning English, French, Spanish, German, Russian and Italian including over 1,600 items such as books, journals, magazines, newspapers, and audio and video materials. It currently holds over 8,000 books and subscribes to thirteen foreign periodicals. Computerised catalogues contain records of all the items available. The library provides an on-line access to the University of Warsaw Library and its databases. There is a separate reading room for self-study in the Library.
Excerpts from the Library Regulations
Everybody is entitled to use the Library as a reader.The right to borrow items from the Library is granted to the following readers:
A person may use the Library after registration through presenting a valid
ID
or student card.A borrower is responsible for a book until the loan record
is cancelled. In the event of loss, damage or non-return of any borrowed item,
the borrower may be required to pay the full cost of a replacement.
No person shall remove a book or any other library material from the Library without a proper record having been made first.
The Library should be notified of any change in the borrower's name or address.
A student may borrow one book for a period of two weeks.
All books and other library materials should be returned by 30th June.
Failure to return a borrowed item within the prescribed period shall incur
a fine.
